Salsa romantica doesn't get more accomplished than Victor Manuelle, the Puerto Rican vocalist who built his reputation through decades of collaborations with Sergio George and a vocal style that sits somewhere between classic New York sonero tradition and contemporary Latin pop sensibility. "A Pesar De Todo" finds him in mature, assured form, the kind of album that rewards listeners who came up on Fania but never stopped following where the music went next.
